Annual Global Conference on Disability and Islam 2021
CALL FOR PRESENTERS/JOURNAL ABSTRACT: DEEN’S GLOBAL CONFERENCE ON DISABILITY AND ISLAM (GCDI)
– September 25th, 2021 –
**CALL FOR PRESENTERS HAS CLOSED**
PROGRAM BOOKLET GCDI 2021
The 2021 GCDI theme is “Nothing About Us Without Us” and focuses on the importance of having persons with disabilities at the forefront of policy and decision making. DEEN is dedicating this conference to putting the voices of people with disabilities and their families first. The voices of people with disabilities were lost during the pandemic and we want to ensure that Muslims with Disabilities have a safe space where they can discuss the intersectionality of Disability and Islam. We want to listen to voices from all over the world and try to close the gaps that separate us. Therefore, your participation is important to make the conference a success.
CONFERENCE GOALS
The goal is to bring together leaders in the Muslim community and people with disabilities and families to raise awareness, highlight their concerns and offer solutions that best suit their needs. We hope this year’s conference will encourage people to go a step further and implement and build on what they learn from each other.
WHO SHOULD PRESENT?
We invite academics, advocates, professionals, Islamic scholars, and people with lived experiences of disability to submit proposals for topics related to this year’s theme as well as a description of their presentation.
